Slots have the simplest rules of all casino games. The player wagers an amount and activates the slot machine. When it comes to rest it shows a combination of symbols. If this combination matches any combination on the payout table displayed on the slot machine, the player wins an amount that is a multiple of his wager, the multiple being specified on the payout table. Multi-line Slots
Initially slots had only one winning combination. Later slots increased the number of reels from three to five and had more slots on each reel. The total number of combinations increased enormously. With the advent of video slots the number of combinations has become almost limitless. Therefore slots, known as multi-line slots, now offer multiple winning combinations and are very popular.
The payout table lists all the winning combinations with their respective payouts. The payout of a winning combination is inversely proportional to the probability of achieving that combination. If a particular designated winning combination occurs more frequently in the total possible combinations, the probability of getting it is higher and therefore the payout is lower. Reel slots generally have up to 5 paylines whereas video slots are known to have up to 100 paylines.
Multi-denomination Slots
Different players desire to wager at different stakes. Initially each slot machine could accept wagers of a particular denomination only. So a nickel player had to search for a nickel slot machine and hoped to find it free. To overcome this problem more and more slots are now of the multi-denomination type. The player can select the denomination they want to play in. Then depending on the total amount wagered, the machine calculates the number of tries or credits available to the player and allows him to play that many times.
